Love = the most beautiful thing to have and the most painful thing to loose.
“If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together,
keep me in your heart. I’ll stay there forever.”
– A.A.Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh
“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”
“Promise me you’ll never forget me because if I thought you would, I’d never leave.”
“Promise you won’t forget me, ever. Not even when I’m a hundred.”
“If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day so I never have to live without you.”
“We’ll be Friends Forever, won’t we, Pooh?’ asked Piglet.
Even longer,’ Pooh answered.”
“We’ll be friends until forever, just you wait and see.”
“How do you spell ‘love’?” – Piglet
“You don’t spell it…you feel it.” – Pooh”
“I think we dream so we don’t have to be apart for so long. If we’re in each other’s dreams, we can be together all the time.”
“Sometimes,’ said Pooh, ‘the smallest things take up the most room in your heart.”
“I wonder what Piglet is doing,” thought Pooh.
“I wish I were there to be doing it, too.”
“Some people care too much. I think it’s called love.”

Liebe Hanne,

Does anyone know who and where the first love-padlocks on bridges apeared? In Cologne, the padlocks are welcome and the city make sure they can all rust in peace next to the cathedral. It was a big scandal last year as somebody tried to steel them to make money out of the material. In Venedig the city react allergic to the padlocks. If you try to place on the Rialtobridge; the fine is 3000 €.

You were obviously feeling romantic. Is it an anniversary?
Which bridge? There are lots with padlocks now. Nice that love prevails. 🙂

No, no anniversary – and I/we actually don’t have a love padlock anywhere… 🙂
This bridge ist the beautiful Hohenzollernbrücke in Cologne. The Cathedral at the end of the bridge is the most famous building in Cologne, the landmark of the city. It’s one of the top ten attractions of Germany. The photo is the taken in front of Hyatt Hotel, on the other side of the River Rhine. From hier you have a magnificent view on the Altstad of Cologne, one of my favourite spots.
Thanks for visiting, Johanna. Have a great week. Love to you from Bonn. 🙂

BeeIndruckend.

Liebe Dina,

Hi, Dina. Perhaps it is already explained in German (ours is a bit fuzzy…) but can you tell us, is this an installation? Quite beautiful. And we adore the quotes! Thank you for this.
LikeLike
Yes, It’s an installation. Love padlocks (also known as love locks and, in Taiwan, wish locks) are a custom by which padlocks are affixed to a fence, gate, bridge or similar public fixture by sweethearts at an increasing number of locations in the world to symbolize their everlasting love.
There are varied explanations for the origin of love padlocks. In Europe, love padlocks started appearing in the early 2000s. The reasons love padlocks started to appear vary between locations, and in many instances are unsourced. However, in Rome, the ritual of affixing love padlocks to the bridge Ponte Milvio can be attributed to the book “I Want You” by Italian author Federico Moccia, who later made it into the film-adaptation Ho voglia di te.
Wikipedia has a list of the places around the world:
