Gelb beunruhigt den Menschen, regt ihn auf und zeigt den Charakter der in der Farbe ausgedrückten Gewalt, die schließlich frech und aufdringlich auf das Gemüt wirkt. A warm yellow (with tiny traces of red) is mostly seen as positive whereas a cold yellow (with tiny traces of blue) is rather seen as negativ. More men like yellow than women.
Warme (rotstichige) Gelbtöne werden eher als positiv empfunden, kalte (grünstichige) Gelbtöne eher als negativ. Gelb ist bei Männern beliebter als bei Frauen.
Yellow symbolises sun and light and so the intellect as light is the requirement for seeing. As yellow radiates it is associated with communication and therefore the colour of the post (except in England because the post is royal there and therefore post boxes are red on our island since 1874) and for all communication wires. It also denotes wealth as it is associated with gold. It’s a lucky colour as well (smilies) because of it’s cheerful and animating effect. Yellow was the colour of a happy love for the minstrels.

And urine is yellow it’s seen as a dirty colour as well. Due to its expansive gesture yellow symbolises flippancy too.

Yellow was hardly ever a colour of fashion except at the turn to the 20th century, because it has been to long a colour to discriminate.

Paracelsus (1493-1541) praised yellow as a colour of healing. It’s detoxing as it stimulates the kidneys, it helps to dissolve aversion and inactivity, it acts as antidepressive and abates shizophrenia. Patients in pain need more painkillers in a yellow surrounding as yellow activates and for the same reason it’s the wrong colour in the bedroom for people with sleeping problems.
Bereits Paracelsus (1493-1541) lobte Gelb als Heilfarbe. Es wirkt entgiftend, da es die Nierentätigkeit stimuliert, es kann Unlustgefühle und Trägheit auflösen, wirkt antidepressiv und lindernd bei Schizophrenie. Da Gelb anregt, benötigen Schmerzpatienten in gelber Farbumgebung eine höhere Dosis an Schmerzmitteln und bei Schlafstörungen ist Gelb im Schlafzimmer zu vermeiden.

Very interesting reading. I do think yellow can lift spirits although I lean far more to deeper golden Mediterranean yellows which bring me peace.

Yellow has a cold side and warm side like all colours. The Norfolk yellow tends to be a brownish yellow and is on the warm side of yellow like the Mediterranean yellow, the yellow without any red is much cooler. The primary colour YELLOW which is Y in printing is a cooler yellow without any red or blue in it.
Most of the people in our western societies prefer the warm variations of a colour to the cold ones.

Great post, you did an excellent job on this one! Superb photos, how on earth do you do this work? A pity the radio interview is only in German, but on the other hand I was pleased to hear that I could actually understand parts of it. 🙂 Now I understand why our smileys are yellow, they bring us joy, fun and happiness and it all start with a smile. 🙂 I would say being non-emotional is positive, to me it is. But it really depends on the situation, doesn’t it. If I’m deeply touched by film or music I feel emotional too, but I prefer to go through life a bit cooler. Siri is right and of course Selma is right; it’s not a pleasure going through life like an icy fridge, reserved and totally cool.

Siri and me agree with you that being emotional or cool has to do with the situation. But we think that quite some people mistake emotions for hysterics and justify this as their “real emotions”. Siri and me we prefer it clear as you do, emotions always have this tendency to be unclear. But of course, as you write as well, we are not argueing for a life without emotions but we prefer “reflected emotions”, meaning we are not fans of naivity.
Yellow means reflection, the reflected emotions, and it’s complimentary colour violet rather means confusion, as Goethe, Kandinsky and many other artist and designer wrote: violet doesn’t know if it is blue or red, Goethe and Kindinsky called it “an indicisive colour”. Yellow is decisive. And here we see the logic or grammar of the language of colours, by the way …

yes, that’s right I talke about the the so called dark side of yellow in the beginning of this interview. Every colour has its dark and light side and the dark side of yellow is connected with jealousy, with poison, pretending and showing off. In the comments here we only wrote about the positive side of yellow, but of course it has a dark side too.

“A colourful blog with lots of information” Indeed. I learn something every week from you guys. Interestingly I have never associated yellow with any emotion. It is not a colour I wear, and even gold does not suit my colouring, but I have used it to decorate my homes. A warm yellow is a very good colour for a north-facing room – it makes it feel sunny when in fact no sun enters at all. And who cannot smile at the face of a sunflower? Or be uplifted at the first sight of dancing daffodils? And the golden colours of Norfolk are a delight.

in our wardrobes there is no yellow neither and gold, oh dear, we would never ever wear something gold. Gold is for people who to play queen and king we think.
Sunflowers are great, aren’t they. Unfortunately we have one in the garden. The others were eaten as tiny shoots by the pheasants. But in spring we have lots and lots of daffodils. We always have to smile seeing them.
Characterstic for the Norfolk coast is this warm brownish yellow, a bit like sand. It’s a mellow colour …
Well, every colour is connected with an emotion as colour influences emotions immediately or one could say it the other way round: there are so many shades of colours as there are emotions.

Yellow is not an erotic colour, at least very few people produce erotic associations with yellow. Therefore there are nearly no yellow dessous.
Maybe that has to do that the negativ side of yellow is associated with urine and dirt, and that yellow is too cool.

This interview in one of the big national German radio station is a short version of the whole interview of about two hours but very well condensed by this radio station. It’s about yellow in art f.e. van Gogh, as the painter of yellow, and yellow in the art of shizophrenics. There is a famous collection of pictures of shizophrenics called “Prinzhorn Sammlung” and it shows that shizophrenics try to heal themselves by painting with a lot of yellow. Then it’s about the so called yellow press coming from a comic in which the protagonist is a boy with a yellow shirt. And the yellow eyes of the female devil in cult comics …
The whole interview is as much about the the positive side of yellow as of the negative side.

look, what I found – oh dear, actually in my own book about colours:
The Dutch painters of the 17th c. like Pieter de Ring, Abraham van Beyeren, Willem Kalf, Adriaen van Utrecht and Jan Jansz den Uyl dedicated a lot of their art to the colour yellow especially in still lifes. The yellow pigment for those pictures came from berries.

I think the last photo in Yellow North Norfolk is the most beautiful image of a landscape I have seen in a long time!! I have never given colours that much thought, but now you got me thinking. 🙂
I’m a very cool person. I love being with my best friend. She’s warmhearted and a lot more emotinal than me, she does me a lot of good and I tend to give Selma thumbs up for her interpretation. 🙂 It depends on the situation, I’d say, if it’s positive or negative.

I would say that the clear yellow without any blue or red is more the cool one whereas the warm yellow with some red mixed in is the yellow for the warmhearted.

I remember Frank Zappa singing a song about ‘don’t eat the yellow snow’ too!
Norfolk is indeed a county of yellow, with the fluorescent rape seed fields, and the other yellow crops.
As for the insects, you are correct. I have been running a Cycling Course at the local school, and the bees were unusually attracted by our yellow safety tabards.

oh dear, we have had our long weekend last week, that was the Late May Bank Holiday. But nevermind as we are selfemployed it doesn’t matter. As the weather is that brilliant we will spend as much time outside as we can.

like every colour yellow has a positive/light side and a negative/dark one. It would make yellow boring to surpress its negative side. To understand colour one has to see that no colour is one-dimensional and every colour shows a polarity. Therefore colour can express emotion that well as it can trigger emotion too. This polarity has a historic background and to do with the grammar of the language of the colour system. Like every language colour follows a clear structure and can be analysed in linguistic way (what most colour theorists – like me 😉 – did).

Was für wunderschöne Fotos. Wobei mich die Rapsfelder besonders ansprechen. Gelb mag ich bei Blüten, aber nicht bei der Kleidung. Kleine schwarze Käfer mögen das Gelb nämlich sehr. 🙂 Ich mag dann die kleinen schwarzen Käfer weniger. 🙂

Well, that yellow is a follower rather than a leader … I never saw colour under this aspect. And I wouldn’t really agree: yellow is the communicator and the intellectual and in some fields these are the leaders. But I have to think about how see colours under leaders and followers, as I said, that’s very new for me and I don’t know any colour historian or theorist who aplied the leader-and-follwer-concept to colours.
I just remember in biking yellow means leader – the yellow jersey …

Bei den Chinesen ist die Bedeutung von Gelb sehr ideologisch geprägt. Da es die Kaiserfarbe ist, wird einfach alles Positive auf Gelb projiziert, quasi als Staatsideologie.

Even in painting there are a lot of toxic pigments used for those shades of yellow:
Bleigelb (lead yellow)
Gummigutt (gamboge)
Kobaltgelb (cobalt yellow)
Manchestergelb (Machester yellow)
Martiusgelb (Martius yellow)
Neapelgelb (Noepolitan yellow)
Realgar (arsenic yellow)
Ultramaringelb (ultramarine yellow)
Urangelb (uranium yellow)
Zinkgelb (zinc yellow)
of course they are now all replaced by non-toxic pigments.

Thank you, Klausbernd; I got rid off the yellow 🙂 – now my hair is back to the color I had before, or almost as before… I suppose it could have been worse. A lady came into the hairdressers, absolutely vivid becuase her hair had turned green! And she had not dyed it herself, it was actually a mistake done by a hairdresser to be in that salon. Women love to use color for the hairs. I wonder how big the percentage is, imagine how we all would look if we all had our original color.. 🙂
As for your interesting list of toxic pigments; I have never heard of this yellows. I thought ultramarine and cobalt were shades of blue, to be honest.

“Yellow is the most delicate colour”…I love yellow but I surprisingly wear very few yellow dresses. I tend to have more yellow jewelry and tops than dresses. It may be true that more men love yellow than women, but I’ve never seen my husband wear anything yellow, yet my teenage son loves yellow. He has myriads of yellow tee shirts and sweat shirts. you see immediately every stain on yellow that’s my problem with yellow clothes 😉 And if you are pale yellow makes you look even paler. It’s really a problematic colour to wear because in summer when one is tanned and yellow would look great it attracts the insects. Well, yellow is the most delicate prismatic colour, indeed.

Great post about these cars. I have to admit I never heard about Bahama Yellow before.
Yellow was the classic colour of Italy in car racing and that was clever because every yellow object that’s moving seems to move faster as it actually does. In Germany you see nowadays quite a lot of yellow Minis – not Bahama Yellow but a clear yellow like a lemon. I think they look great.

Yellow is such a difficult, yet interesting colour, isn’t! Of course all colours have different connotations, but none as much as yellow. Seems like you have been able to collect all values that are associated with yellow in this excellent and very informative post. As one of the primary colours in the traditional painter’s colour wheel, yellow makes the coloured world very intense, particularly when seen it along with the two other primary colours. I love your collection of yellow images which is part of this post.

Goethe saw yellow as the colourful representative of light. And indeed it is not only the lightest colour of the colour circle it’s as well the colour you see longest as a prismatic colour when the light is fading and all the other colours have turned grey. But of course so much light attracts darkness as well: yellow as the colour of discriminated folks, yellow with its connectipn to poison and yellow that hurts the eye.
Yellow has the the smallest colour space of all prismatic colours, well, one could say it’s very individual as it doesn’t like to mix.
I agree, all this makes yellow to a very intense colour.

Psychopathologen sind sich einig (was sie selten sind 😉 ), dass van Gogh versuchte, sich mit Gelb während seiner psychotischen Schübe zu stabilisieren, da Gelb Klarheit schafft. Es kam beim erfolglosen Vincent zur Krise aus Eifersucht auf den lässigen Gaugin, der so fein Südsee-bunt malte.

Dann war es vielleicht doch zu viel gelb, warum hat er sich denn ausgerechnet am Ohr amputiert?…..ist es heute wieder kühl genug zum Denken?
Zum Tanzen ist es vielen definitiv zu heiß, es kommen nur die, die das Tanzen wirklich lieben. Wie ein Turning Point, da kann man es deutlich sehen, wer etwas verstanden hat……
Chromosomen heißt Lichtkörper, der Gedanke verstört mich völlig….
Siri, Selma, wi haben jetzt sogar 2 Eisdielen direkt am Platz, Adria und Venezia, kommt doch mal wieder vorbei geflattert….
Ansonsten könnte man sich ja auch in den Kühlschrank setzen.

warum van Gogh sich gerade das Ohr abschnitt, das mag das Folgende erklären, das den Zusammenhang zwischen Ohr und weiblichem Sexualorgan verdeutlicht – und darum ging es bei dieser van Gogh-Episode, dass nämlich Gaugin von den leichten Mädchen mehr geliebt wurde als van Gogh.
“Das Ohr ist ein äußerst individueller Körperteil. Ursprünglich war es unser wichtigstes Sinnesorgan, das jedoch in der Moderne vom Auge auf den zweiten Platz verdrängt wurde.
Menschen unterscheiden sich durch die Form ihrer Ohren. Deswegen schneiden bisweilen Entführer das Ohr ihrer Opfer ab und schicken es denjenigen zu, von denen sie Lösegeld erpressen wollen. Zu Beginn der siebziger Jahre erregte dies Aufsehen in Italien, als bei der Getty-Entführung das abgeschnittene Ohr Gettys dessen Familie zugeschickt wurde.

Hi, liebe Susanne,
na, na, was arbeitest du denn so viel und das bei diesem schönen Wetter? Es sollen auch ein Leben jenseits der Arbeit geben, meinen Siri und Selma.
Hier war es auch zu heiß, aber heute ist es sehr angenehm: 23 Grad C, leichter Hochnebel und eine feine Seebrise. Das lieben wir, besonders da wir heute auch beschäftigt sind: Wir wollen das ganze Haus und Grundstück aufräumen und dabei auch gleich wieder entrümpeln. Es soll alles fein sein, wenn Dina am Donnerstag kommt.
Gelb ist ja schon deswegen spektakulär, da sie die auffallendste und hellste Spektralfarbe ist, fast schon reines Licht …

Hi lieber KB,
das Wetter ist mir zu schön — ich bin eher ein Nordmensch und fühle mich bei 22 – 24 Grad am wohlsten. Auf meinem Balkon misst mein Thermometer 48 Grad … Ich habe an meinem Manusskript für mein viertes Buch im Edition Fischer Verlag gearbeitet. Ende August ist Abgabetermin und so habe ich noch einiges zu tun. Danach habe ich ersteinmal eine länge Mittagspause gemacht und nun werde ich den Tag mit Lektüre zur Berliner Stadtgeschichte, speziel den Platz, für die Uni ausklingen lassen.
Ich habe das Arktis Projekt nicht vergessen. Leider hat es der Verleger vergessen, so dass ich mich tatsächlich im Herbst darum kümmern werde, wo ich es unterbringen kann. Es ist ärgerlich. Beim Verleger liegt eine gesamt fertiggestellte Illustration für ein anderes Buch … das nun schon seit zwei Jahren. Die werde ich wohl einmal abholen gehen.

ja, hier ist es ebenfalls hochsommerlich, immer noch 25 Grad C, was hier seltenst nur überschritten wird. Erträglich macht es die leichte Seebrise.
Siri, Selma und ich hoffen sehr, dass das Arktisbuch doch irgendwann in absehbarer Zeit erscheinen wird. Aber diese Verleger sind eine ganz besondere Spezies. Auf jeden Fall drücken wir dir fest Daumen und Flügelchen, dass dein viertes Buch bei der Edition Fischer sich nun spielerisch leicht vollenden und flugs erscheinen wird. Wir sind gespannt.

Lieber KB,
danke für die guten Wünsche, es geht mit dem neuen Buch so gut voran, dass ein kleiner Teil meines Kopfes schon mit den beiden Referaten, die ich als nächstes halte, beschäftigt ist. Die Themen sind wie immer spannend, als erstes kommt eine Baubeschreibung des Mausoleums der Königin Luise im Schlossgarten Charlottenburg an die Reihe und danach über Kunstsammler. Bald erhalten wir auch den Reader zu Dürer und die Druckkunst, ich habe meine Hausarbeit, die ich dir sendete nochmas vollständig umgeschrieben, es blieb kein Satz auf dem anderen….
Du bist heute sicher mit deinem Boot unterwegs und geniesst das Wetter und die See.

Guten Morgen, liebe Susanne,
nee, ich bin nicht mit dem Boot unterwegs, da ich heute Morgen mein Auto zum MOT (das ist der TÜV) brachte. Das geschieht in der Tankstelle am Nachbarort. Wegen des feinen Wetters wanderte ich durch die Marschen etwa eine Stunde lang zurück. Es herrscht Bilderbuchwetter: 23 Grad C, leichte Seebrise, sonnig. Siri und Selma flatterten munter mit. Heute Abend muss ich dann wieder dorthin, meinen Volvo abholen. Ich werde wohl wieder am Meer entlang nach Blakeney wandern.
Na, das ist doch toll, dass dir alles gut von der Hand zu gehen scheint 🙂
Bevor ich nun in den Garten verschwinde, schnell noch einen Tipp für dich (falls dir das Buch nicht schon bekannt ist). Kennst du von John Gage “Kulturgeschichte der Farbe”? Dieses umfangreiche Standardwerk ist sicher für dich als Kunstgeschichtlerin eine Fundgrube von Infos über Farben.

Das hört sich nach einem vollen Tag an, KB.
Ich hoffe, du hast dein Auto wieder gut nach hause gebracht.
Du hast mich wiedermal zum Nachdenken gebracht: Ich sehe mich weiterhin als Künstlerin und nicht als Kunstgeschichtlerin ….. auf die Idee bin ich gar nicht gekommen und das, obwohl ich das Fach ja studiere. Ich bin sogar schon sehr nahe am Bachelor.
Dabei auch gleich danke für den Buch-Tip. Texte von John Cage hatten haben wir schon in verschiedenen Seminaren besprochen aber die “Kulturgeschichte der Farbe” nicht. Ich setze es auf meine Liste….. zu meiner “Berufsbezeichnung” da schreibe ich noch einen Blogbeitrag…..ich denke morgen, ich muß darüber nachdenken…..

Liebe Susanne,
ich habe da wohl zu schnell von meiner Branche auf deine geschlossen. Gute und erfolgreiche Literaten haben fast immer Literaturgeschichte oder Philologie studiert. Ich bin der Ansicht, dass heutzutage man nicht gut schreiben kann, wenn man sich nicht bestens in der Literaturgeschichte auskennt – also Kunst und deren Geschichte gehen bei Literaten Hand in Hand. Oder anders gesagt, ein Literaturgeschichtler zu sein, ehrt den Literaten.
Ich bin auf deinen Beitrag dazu gespannt.

Lieber KB,
mein Artikel zum Thema dauerte etwas länger, ich musste gründlich überlegen und er ist jetzt erst online gegangen. Er hat den Titel “WAS BIN ICH – und was ist künstlerische Forschung? “.
Ich denke nicht, dass viele Künstler Kunstgeschichte studieren, entweder studieren sie Kunst oder sind Autodidakten. Es wird jedoch während des Kunststudium auch Kunstgeschichte gelehrt … aber eben nicht ausschließlich. Bei den Literaten wird Theorie und Praxis nicht so stark getrennt, vermute ich.
Ich werde jetzt Feierabend machen und mir zum Abend einen leckeren (koffeeinfreien) Kaffee gönnen.

du hast recht, bei den Literaten gehen Theorie und Praxis oft bruchlos ineinander über. Viele schreiben neben Fiktion auch Rezensionen und andere non-fiction Texte. Vielleicht ist auch das Schreiben eine intellektuellere Kunstform als Zeichnen und Malen – allerdings weiß ich nicht, ob diese Aussage nicht an meiner Ignoranz liegt. Ich weiß wohl, dass viele Maler wie Runge, Turner, Kandinsky und Co sich ausgiebig mit Farbenlehre beschäftigten und/oder Theorien über Licht und Sehen.
Anyway, ich werde jetzt gleich erst einmal deinen Artikel lesen.

macht nichts, du kannst im Haus gelbe Akzente setzen oder denk an all die gelben Blumen im Garten – Siri und Selma sind z.B. Freundinnen der Sonnenblumen 🙂
An Gelb scheiden sich die Geister, entweder man liebt es oder man findet es zu aufdringlich. Es kommt einem immerhin aus der Farbfläche entgegen und macht einem dazu nicht nur auffällig sondern auch noch größer.
Genießen das feine hochsommerliche Wetter 🙂

Dear Francesca,
well, on one hand yellow is a men’s colour – I like it too – and on the other hand it was the colour of Italy in car racing, of course, a men’s thing as well. And I associate it with Italy because of the German poet Goethe who associates Italy with lemon – he calls it “the land where the lemon trees are flowering” in a poem in his novel “Wilhelm Meister”.

Well, first of all big time congratulations to the Fab Four on being featured on Avanti! You guys rock! 🙂
Then a few random thoughts as always: I thought that the color of envy was green (I seem to recall a quote from Shakespeare’s Othello that went something like “envy is a green-eyed monster”), and on a more popular level in many cultures there is also the expression “being green with envy”.
On the connotation of non-emotional I tend to side with Siri. Maybe not if we take the concept to the extreme (I think that being literally unemotional is a condition), but in the sense of being in control of one’s emotions and being able to rationally analyze even situations that may be emotionally charged, then I think that it is a good thing. And I can relate to it 😉

Dear Stefano,
you mention a crucial point of symbolism: The symbolism of colours is not archetypal, meaning can have different meanings in different cultures. In some countries like in Germany yellow is seen as the colour of envy, mainly in English speaking countries it is green. The German tradition goes back to Paracelsus (Theophrastus Bombastus von Hohenheim) a Renaissance physician and alchemist who connected the doctrine of the four temperaments to the body fluids. For him envy has to do with a disharmonized gall and the fluids of gall are seen as yellow by him (actually one could see it as green as well) and so in the analogues thinking of that time that colour of envy became yellow. One has to see that in those times analogues thinking coined the sciences and yellow (Gelb) and gall (Galle) start with the same letter and in both the third letter is a L, that made people think they are alike (but, of course, that works in German only).
One of our next blogs will be about the symbolism of the dog. There we find cultural differences again.
When my dictonary of symbols was publish in the US I worked with the translator and editor for half a year to change symbolic meanings from German and European to American.

As we talk about colours, here an interesting information I just read in the paper of the airline Norwegian: The world’s most colourful town is Burano near Venice. It’s said, that all the buildings of this town were painted brightly in different colours that the fishermen could recognise their homes when they were out at sea.
I have never been there but now Siri and Selma love to go there.

Have you noticed the lack of colour in interior decorating magazines. Usually there are splashes of colour (via pillows and artwork) surrounded by a sea of white, taupe, linen. Lately, however I have found that yellow has crept softly into the palettes of the designers. They are masters of thinking up names for the subtle shades: lemon soufflé, butter, sundance, lemon grass, fiesta yellow, sun-kissed yellow, sun porch, – just to name a few!
I love everything about yellow – it reminds me of summer afternoons sipping lemonade under a huge oak tree. To me, it is warmth, joy and laughter. Which is what I felt when I listened to your interview, KB. While I do not understand German (alas), your enthusiasm, passion, and joy for living was in your voice. Words on a paper allow us to share thoughts and ideas, but it is our voices that bring out the message that connects us all. I listened to the interview more than once.
And Dina – your photography! I feel like I’m in the scene- I can smell the hay, feel the sun on my face.
Siri and Selma – your wise and thoughtful comments give me something to take with me….

We have this tendency in Europe as well that the non-prismatic colours are in for quite a while now. Especially three years ago every art and design magazine was asking for an article about white. Of course this goes well together with a certain coolness in our societies. With prismatic colours you show to much of yourself, you express and provoce too much feeling. But every fashion has to change and so it’s time that colours become en vogue again. The prismatic colour nearest to white is yellow and therefore after a time of whites, greys and black yellow is the first prismatic colour to appear again. Quite some German fashion and women’s magazines proclaimed yellow the fashionable colour of this summer, but if I look around here in England, hardly anybody wears yellow.

Hej allihopa! Obwohl es schon so viele tolle comments gibt, will ich noch schnell meinen Senf (gelb in allen Tönen) dazugeben. Aus der Ferne mittendrin (Norderney-Schlickpackungen und viel frische Luft) betrachtete ich Euer Treiben….. ; und ein wenig erholt kann ich nun berichten, dass mein Gelb, wie alle anderen Farben freundliche und weniger freundliche Aspekte hat. Meine Tischdekoration nach der Reise ist nun in einem warmen gelb mit rotem Einschlag geworden. Die langstieligen Rosen erinnern mich an Euch. Die hellere Kerze im hohen Glas, umgeben von den auf meinen Reisen gesammelten Muscheln, erinnern mich an Meer und von dem ich noch so viel meehr gerne hätte. Därmed önskar jag oss en trevlig helge. Hej, liebe Ruth,
ich sitze gerade am Notebook (schwarz) in meinem Office, dessen Wände in einem warmen, sehr aufgehellten Gelb gestrichen sind, auf der gelben Tischplatte steht ein Glas Orangensaft mit Limone, ein wässriges kühleres Gelb, und der Teppichboden zeigt die Farbe eines sandfarbigen Gelbs (der ist ganz neu und fußschmeichelnd). Mir wird jetzt erst richtig klar, von wieviel Gelb ich an meinem Arbeitsplatz umgeben bin. Und last not least scheint auch noch eine gelbe Nachmittagssonne bei mir zum Fenster hinein.
Dann erhole dich fein weiter, genieße das Wochenende und auch ich sage: vi hörs, vi ses

ich mag das warme Gelb, keine gelbe Kleidung und überhaupt letztlich nur in meinen Bildern, das ist eine andere Kraft, wie ihr so fein beschrieben habt,als gelb an mir …

Great post. Without realising it, I think they yellow must be one of my favourite colours – it speask of maturity, ripeness, wholesomeness, nutrition. And of course, summer – especially here in Norfolk. I could happily live without so much oilseed rape in the fields though – that just hurts my eyes! All the best, Laurence

thanks a lot. Actually yellow destroys a lot of rhodopsin in the eyes. This destruction produces the information yellow in the brain. One can see this as a kind of hurting. Only white destructs more rhodopsin and seeing white can hurt the eyes too.

Magnificent…wunderhübsche Collage…hab’s glatt übersehn…steht aber bei uns auch für GELB, wie ADAC…hilfreich und gleichzeitig auch hinterhältig und verlogen und geschäftssüchtig…bei uns führte das zum Austritt…wenn ihr schon beim SWR gesendet wurdet fehlt dann noch der NDR2, hier im Norden…

Übrigens für den NDR habe ich vor langer Zeit drei Filme gemacht 📺 und zwar über Rot, Weiß und Schwarz. Ich würde da gern wieder mal etwas machen, vielleicht fürs Radioprogramm. 📻 Vielleicht kommen die irgendwann auf mich zu. Daumen halten! 👍

Interesting post. This made me remember that when I was a child I had a yellow sport pedal car, and every time I went to the park with my parents, the car attracted countless tiny mosquitoes that rested on my little car. In der Tat, das ist richtig. Unser Bild von der Antike mit weißen Marmorfiguren und Gebäuden ist falsch – und damit unsere Vorstellung von der Kunst der Klassik – die griechisch-römische Klassik war bunt. Statuen versuchten durch ihre Farbigkeit zu faszinieren.
