the chirpy Bookfayries are writing again. We returned safely from our trip to the beautiful and, you wouldn’t believe it, sunny Scotland. Tomorrow is the big day, we will listen excitedly how the referendum will be answered. Everyone we talked to answered following the slogan We are proud to be Scottish and delighted to be united. But as Bookfayries you meet a special kind of folks only. The polls foresee a narrow race between YES and NO.

Wir sind vom schönen Schottland zurück und sitzen ab morgen Mittag zitternd am Radio, wie wohl das Referendum über die Unabhängigkeit Schottlands entschieden wird. Alle, die wir sprachen, hingen der Devise an: We are proud to be Scottish and delighted to be united. Aber so als Buchfeen trifft man nur bestimmte Leute. Die Meinungsumfragen erwarten ein denkbar knappes Ergebnis.

Scotland is grand! We fell for Ossian, this fake but nevertheless highly influential national epic of Scotland, praising its wild nature. The leading German poet Goethe not only published Ossian’s work in 1773 but also included “Selma’s Songs” (Ossian) in his novel “The Sufferings of Young Werther”. It’s their ideal place as an example of the lofty Scottish Romantic. And there exists not only SELMAS songs but Selma is also the town where James Macpherson found the poetic works of the, of course, blind Scottish bard Ossian in the old Gaelic language Erse in 1820. Even I, Bookfayrie Selma, have to admit that this was a big fake. Macpherson has written these Ossian texts about the nordic landscape and the usual like unhappy love and fights. His Highlands are blunt but grand covered always in a grey fog. Lucky us to see a very green and mostly sunny Scotland rather than its dark side as you find it pictured in the novels of Iain Banks and Ian Ranking. Up in the mountains we found Ossian’s grey shades and browns, when our beloved Master with the photographing Dina climbed some Highland peaks until it was Whisky time in the pub. Did you know that even Napoleon B. commissioned a painting from Ingres expressing the mood of Ossian for his bedroom? Ossian was in and Selma, too, where most of these epic songs were set. Ossian started tourism in the Highlands.

Schottland ist großartig. Wir verfielen wie Ossian, der das gefälschte, aber höchst einflussreiche Nationalepos Schottlands schrieb, dem Reiz der kargen Landschaft. Goethe publizierte nicht nur 1773 die Werke Ossians, sondern nahm auch „Gesänge von Selma“ in seinem Roman „Die Leiden des jungen Werther“ auf. Da gehören sie auch hin als bestes Beispiel schottischer Romantik. Und wisst ihr was? Ja, da staunt ihr! Der Ort Selma – ihr lest richtig – ja, in der Town of SELMA wurden angeblich Anfang September 1820 die schottisch-gälischen (Erse) Schriften des blinden Sängers von dem schottische Poet James Macpherson gefunden, die er selbst inbrünstig geschrieben und mit unglücklichen Lieben und Kampf gespickt hatte. Macpherson malt in den Schriften Ossians ein nebliggraues und zugleich grandioses Bild der schottischen Landschaft. Wir hatten das Glück, ein sehr grünes Schottland zu sehen und nicht dessen dunkle Seite zu erleben, wie sie Iain Banks und Ian Ranking lesenswert beschreiben. Und hoch oben fanden wir feine Braun und Grautöne, wenn Masterchen und Dina Berge in den Highlands bestiegen. Und es kommt noch besser, die gesamte Handlung der Gesänge Ossians spielt meistens in Selma, im schottischen Hochland, wo die fotografierende Dina und unser geliebtes Masterchen bis zur abendlichen Whiskyprobe wanderten. Kein Geringerer als der kleine Napoleon gab bei Ingres ein Bild nach Ossian für sein Schlafzimmer in Auftrag. Jeder scheint vom schottischen Hochland fasziniert und so begann der Tourismus in den Highlands mit der in ganz Europa verbreiteten Ossian-Rezeption, der seitdem wuchs und zunehmend internationaler wurde. Naja, wir gehörten eben auch dazu …

We promise to blog much more about Scotland f.e. about the Bass Rock, Dina’s favourite, about the beautiful Hill House and arts-and-crafts in Scotland, Lindisfarne, and much more. Dina and our dear Master are so busy planning Dina’s departure tomorrow 😉 and our meeting in Berlin next month :-). And you wouldn’t believe it, in the end we could persuade our Master to lecture and hold a workshop about dreams and understanding symbolism in Berlin. As the invitation as the workshop is in German only we forget about translating. 

Wir versprechen euch allen, demnächst mehr über Schottland zu schreiben wie über die Leuchtturm-Vogelinsel Bass-Rock, ein Favorit unserer lieben Dina, über das schottische Äquivalent des Bauhauses, das Hill-House von Mackintosh, über Lindisfarne/Holy Island und einiges mehr. Dina und Masterchen sind auch sooo beschäftigt mit Dinas Abfahrt morgen und dann werden wir auch gleich unsere gemeinsame Reise nach Berlin vorbereiten müssen, wo wir uns im Oktober wieder treffen.   4. Excellent post and spectacular pics. However, I didn’t get a feeling that you’re all too sure about whether an independent Scotland is better or not. Care to elaborate? Thanks anyway; it’s refreshing when someone invokes Goethe on a post and I very much appreciate the attention you give to your posts. Best

      thank you so much for commenting.
      Well, I think it’s too early for an independent Scotland. There are no solutions for too many problems like currency, military and many more. Both sides argue highly emotional, quite a lot of the YES and No supporters don’t argue cool and reasonably. At this point of time I suppose neither England nor Scotland would profit from an independent Scotland. Probably many people feel that their emptions tell them to vote yes but their their reason tells them to vote no. But tonight we will see … It’s forecasted that more than 90% will vote.

      we had a really great time in Scotland. But we are also happy to be back home again.
      Dina just flew to Germany to work there, Siri, Selma and me stay here.
      Did you have a nice holiday as well? We kept our fingers crossed. Selma wants to know if you saw polar bears on Svalbard?

    Interesting reading too. Leser i norske aviser at det i kveld er et lite flertall for adskillelse…
    Ser også at en viser til bånd mellom Norge og Scotland tilbake til vikingetiden…
    Og, Scotland har jo som Norge olje og laks (oppdretts-), så noe inntekter er det vel i ei framtidig statskasse…
    Når en i tillegg produserer “livets vann” i begge land, ja da må det vel bli bra eller..?

    • Dear Hans,
      I agree one cannot compare Norway and Scotland. As I wrote above too many central question are still open like currency f.e. And a big problem for Scotland: The North Sea oil is probably not at its end but it’s flowing not that strongly any longer. But it should finance the state expenses.
      Emotionally I can understand the Scottish people, they are giving more to England than receiving and there is a lot of unemployment and poverty especially in the west of Scotland.
      In the news just now they couldn’t say who is winning. Really exciting!

Ihr Lieben wieder in Cley, Ich war ebenso begeistert von unserer Schottlandreise vor einigen Jahren wie Ihr, obwohl wir nicht in den Highlands waren, sondern zum Beispiel in der Nähe von dem geschichtlich bekannten Stirling und auf dem Ben Lomond. Dinas Bilder sind wie immer traumhaft schön.:) Vielen Dank und es ist schön, dass Ihr wieder zurück seid.

    • Hallo, liebe Martina,
      schön wieder von dir zu lesen. In Sterling waren wir auch und dann ging’s ab nach Nordwesten in die Highlands, nördlich von Loch Lomond, wo es richtig gebirgig wird. Die Berge sind zwar nicht so hoch, aber besitzen ab etwa 700 m Hochgebirgscharakter.
      Die Lowlands finden wir auch sehr schön, idyllisch oft.
      Aber nun sind wir auch froh, wieder hier zu sein 🙂

      in ganz Skandinavien ist der Alkohol ein Problem – vielleicht weil der Alkoholverkauf verstaatlicht ist und sicher, weil’s prohibinistische Tendenzen gab.

      also, lieber Pit und liebe Mary, wir haben soooo gut auf unsere liebe Dina und Masterchen aufgepasst. In den Bergen flogen wir voraus, um sie vor gefährlichen Abgründen zu warnen, wir flogen Linsen und Fotoapparate nach oben und beim Autofahren, flatterten wir oben aus dem offen Verdeck, um zu berichten, was zu erwarten war. Klar, passen wir auf die auf, das ist große Feenehrensache!

    I have been looking forward to your posts. We were on the way to Inverary the same day you were heading to Oban. The rain held us back – as it did you! Can you believe how close we came. We are coming back next year!! BTW, The Inverary Bagpipe Band came in second at the World Bagpipe Championship. My thoughts are with Scotland tonight as they make a defining choice. It is so good to read your post. The photography is remarkable. Hugs and more hugs to the Fabulous Four. Safe travels, Dina…. ❤

      the first picture here was taken in that rain in Inverary. What a pity that we didn’t meet. It’s funny that we came so close to each other. We had some tea in Inverary castle, where Downton Abbey was filmed. But the tea room was not that impressive.
      Well, well, maybe the next we will meet.
      Dina flew home today, we will meet again in Berlin next month.
      Now I will disappear in my sauna 🙂

      thanks a lot for commenting. Scotland reminded me on Scandinavia at some places. Unfortunately I don’t know the Pacific Northwest but it must be grand there as well. I saw pictures in National Geographic and blogs.
      The workshop will be about understanding symbolism and using your dreams in everyday life.

    • Unfortunately Dina, I am not in Munich, but yes, Oktoberfest is a popular celebration here too, although it is an “Americanized” version. The Hutterian community seems to have a fairly authentic celebration. We like to visit Greenbluff for the harvest festival, which is similar but with much weaker beer. 🙂 The next time you stop by my place, you might want to check out the “Greenbluff Revisited” and “It’s the High-Velocity Pumpkin Charlie Brown” posts in the archives. They both have pics of Eastern Washington harvest celebrations.

    • Dear Thorsaurus,
      well, the Oktoberfest is not really my cup of tea. I have only been twice invited to Munich visiting the Oktoberfest. It’s an experience to see quite “normal” people getting really drunk. The special beer is tasty but drink and food is unbelievable expensive and the music unbearable. Like a lot of the non-Bavarian people the Oktoberfest doesn’t attract me. But I can very well imagine that’s an experience for foreigners to see Germans getting drunk and often quite horney.
      I suppose it’s different how the Hutterians will clebrate it and, as you said, surely more genuine. A friend from Munich told me that the Oktoberfest like it is now isn’t genuin any longer.
      Sorry to disappoint you.
      I will have a look at your blog being curious about such Harvest traditions.

  18. Traumhaft schöne Fotos habt ihr gemacht ! Ihr scheint recht gutes Wetter gehabt zu haben 🙂
    Ich selber habe Schottland im August mit viel Regen erlebt, aber auch das war ein Erlebnis. Sobald ich ein bisschen mehr Zeit habe werde ich darüber berichten.
    Der Vortrag in Berlin wäre ja eigentlich genau das Richtige für mich (nomen est omen ;-)), aber leider wohne ich viel zu weit weg.

    • Oh, das ist aber schade. Ja, ehrlich gesagt, lag für mich Berlin auch am Ende der Welt als Kölner.
      Danke fürs Kommentieren. Das ist ja blöd, dass es bei deiner Schottlandreise so viel regnete. Wir hatten einfach Glück. Aber ein Tag war völlig verregnet und genau von dem Tag als es mächtigst regnete, stammt das erste Bild hier. Die übrige Zeit (3 Wch.) hatten wir Sonnenschein.
      Wir sind auf deine Schottland-Eindrücke gespannt.

    Gespannt wie ein Flitzebogen auf mehr!
    Die Berlinreise ist Josi sicher nicht mehr auszureden…..ich träume auch schon ganz fleißig in der letzten Zeit….nicht dass die geistige Welt noch ganz verrückt wird, weil ich einfach nicht meine Träume begreife!!

    …..dass die in Schottland extra eine Stadt nach Selma benannt haben, finde ich ganz großartig. Siri ist nicht neidisch?
    In Berlin werde ich auch ehemalige Schülerinnen besuchen, große Freude!

      …uhhh ich tanze gleich 2 Stunden mit 4 und 5jährigen, habe Angst….aber mache mich schon ganz stark!
      Freude soll überwiegen…..wir werden Wolken, Regentropfen und ein Bach sein…..

      zugegeben, wir haben uns schon am Anfang darüber gestritten, uns in die Flügelchen gekniffen und anderes, was wohl ehrenvoller sei, dass nämlich Apple seine gute Fee nach Siri benannte und Selma ein Ossian-Ort in Schottland ist. Aber wir wissen ja, so ist es halt: ich, Siri, bin gaaanz klug, und ich, Selma, bin die Romantikerin – und jetzt wollen wir gar nicht erst anfangen weiter zu streiten. Schluss, aus, Ende und überhaupt …

    • Guten Abend, liebe Pia,
      gerade komme ich aus Norwich zurück, wo ich Dina zum Flughafenbus brachte.
      Ja, Schottland war richtig toll, wir werden noch mehr davon berichten.
      Warum die Schotten unabhängig werden möchten? Sie haben das Gefühl, wenn ich es mal undifferenziert ausdrücken soll, von England ausgebeutet zu werden. Von ihnen kommt das Nordsee-Öl und Gas, aber die Profite fließen nach London. So ist Schottland signifikant ärmer als England, d.h. höhere Arbeitslosigkeit und viel Armut bes. im Westen. Wir werden es ja heute Abend wissen, ob wir ab morgen ein eigenes Land Schottland haben. Zu den Problemen schrieb ich schon in Antworten auf die Kommentare weiter oben.
      Das ist ja toll, dass du zum Traumworkshop nach Berlin kommen möchtest. Du musst dich dafür bei Christine praxis@ener-chi-med.de anmelden. Geht auch per Telefon, du hast doch ihre Nummer oder? Auf jeden Fall freue ich mich sehr.

      we were very lucky, we only had one rainy day in 3 weeks – and no midgets 🙂 And the first picture here was taken on that rainy day, it actually was raining cat and dogs. We had a tea in Invarary (in the castle where Downton Hall was filmed) and Dina took that first picture with the boats there.
      But now we are happy being home again 🙂

      exciting, isn’t it?
      Well, if we talked to people in the pub f.e. they all prefered to stay united, but driving in the countryside makes you think there are more people for independence because we saw YES everywhere, in many windows, on big posters and so on.

  27. These are such wonderful photos, Dina. You have surely used some book fayrie magic and done the impossible – captured Scotland’s rare magnificence. We in England are on tenterhooks to see which way the vote goes. I think I might like to vote to be Scottish! 🙂

      NO won and so Scotland will stay in the UK. As I read in the morning papers it was the insecurity about the currency that made the Scotts vote NO.

  29. Willkommen zurück in Cley und Bonn, Fabulous Four! 🙂
    Welch ein toller Einblick in Schottland ihr bietet. Schön die Auswirkungen von Ossian in dieser Weise vorgeführt zu bekommen. Das Naturepos? hat ausserhalb von Schottland auch viele Deutsche beeinflusst, Herders ganzes Lebenswerk war davon geprägt und bewog ihn den Ossian mit Moses und Hiob zu vergleichen. Er hat unzählige namenlose Geister inspiriert, und sei es nur, indem sie ihre Kinder nach dem Ort Selma oder nach dem Helden Oskar nannten. Wie bist du den liebe Selma, zu deinem schönen Namen gekommen? Und du liebe Siri, zu deinem? Ihr habt beide ausgesprochen schöne Namen! 🙂

    Das war endlich eine wirklich spannende Wahl, die ganze Welt hat gestern Abend und Nacht zu Schottland geschaut, der reinste Krimi. Wie ist die Stimmung heute?

    • Guten Abend, lieber Jürgen,

      ja, die Entscheidung des Referendums war sauspannend. In unserer Umgebung hier hatten selbst die Schotten nicht eine so deutliche Entscheidung für NO erwartet. Jeder, ob Schotte oder Engländer, den wir heute sprachen, war froh über diesen Ausgang. Hier leben zwar ein paar Schotten, aber wir leben ja in England, wo wohl überall große Freude herrschte. Nach Medienberichten scheinen auch viele Schotten in Schottland erleichtert zu sein.

      Und da fragst du uns, wie wir zu unseren feinen Namen kamen. Wir glauben, unser Masterchen und die liebe Dina wurden von Selma Lagerlöfs und Siri Hustvedts Vornamen inspiriert. So etwas haben sie uns irgendwann mal erzählt, allerdings setzte Masterchen kürzlich hinzu “ich finde eure Namen toll, aber nach ihren letzten Romanen wird mich Siri nicht mehr an Paul Austers Frau erinnern.” Masterchen fand Siri Husvedts Romane “voll geschlampt”, aber er findet den Namen Siri nach wie vor toll. Und noch etwas WICHTIGES: Ich wurde Siri genannt BEVOR Apple das als Name für sein Spracherkennungsprogramm wählte. Du verstehst, das ist nach mir benannt! Aber hallo!

  32. Oh so beautiful! The first photo with it’s contrast between the moody sky and warm boat and water colors is fantastic! That sliver of light on the water, so silvery – beautiful. It looks like you might have reduced the clarity a little? Or the contrast? It’s a perfect effect to keep the mood strong. It’s interesting to see the big sections of forest on the hillside, too in the 4th photo. Glad you had a good trip!

      Dina will tell you about the technical side of her photography, I am responsible for text only. When I saw the first picture with the boats I immediately loved it. This photograph was taken in heavy rain. The forth photo was taken when we climbed Ben Donith.

    • Yes, you are right! 🙂 This lovely day in Inveraray was a very wet one and as soon as I spotted this scene in the harbour I fell for it. Bad weather is great for photography! Anyway, I reduced the clarity a little bit by softening it down. Otherwise the red would look too hard and the dreamy mood suitable for the scene would not be possible; the reflections on the water also looked a bit harder.
      You are also right on your second guess! 🙂 I have reduced the contrast in the first shot. As you can see in the other shots, I am found of strong contrast…

      ja, Siri und Selma sind wirklich ein prima Team. Irgendwie scheint Selma so ein wenig wie das Alter Ego von Dina zu sein und Siri das von mir – und dennoch sind sie natürlich völlig anders als Dina und ich, eben “fayrie like”.
      Ja, zur Goethezeit herrschte eine verbreitete Keltomanie in Europa. Sie lebte noch einmal auf am Ende des vergangenen Jahrhunderts in esoterischen Kreisen. Wobei man sagen muss, dass den Kelten Vieles unterstellt wurde. König Arthus wurde als letzter Repräsentant des Keltischen verehrt und es entstand ein Arthus-Kult, der sich auch in der Literatur mit all ihren Arthus-Romanen widerspiegelte wie T.H. Whites “Der König auf Camelot” und John Steinbecks “König Arthus”. Diese Keltomanie, die sich Arthus zuwandte, bezieht sich meist auf Malorys Arthus-Roman aus dem 15. Jh., von dem es übrigens ein schöne von Aubrey Beardsley illustrierte deutsche Ausgabe (Insel Vlg.) gibt.

      our hiking in the highlands was great and you wouldn’t believe it, nearly no rain nor midgets.
      You are very welcome to visit me again but I have to leave for lectures and workshops in Berlin in three weeks time. I will be here again – hopefully with Hanne – from November onwards. Now Hanne is working in Bonn.

      ich komme gerade von deinem Blog. Dort habe ich mit großem Staunen gelesen wie dein Kreuzfahrtschiff auf den Weg nach Norwegen kurzerhand wegen Lotsenstreik den Kurs auf die Orkneys nahm. Abenteuerlich! 🙂 Schön, dass du dieses Jahr mehr Glück hattest und diesmal Norwegen besichtigen konntest. Deine Bilder sind wunderschön. Du scheinst Schiffsreisen zu lieben. 😉 Wir würden gerne die Western Inseln in Schottland mit einem kleinen Schiff besuchen.

      ich liebe grundsätzlich Schiffe, ob groß oder klein. Zum Glück werde ich auch nicht seekrank 😉
      Mein Traum wäre nochmals eine Kreuzfahrt über Orkney, Shetland, Island nach Spitzbergen und dann die norwegische Küste runter nach Hamburg.
      Dafür muß ich wohl noch ein paar Jahre sparen:-(

      eine Schifffahrt von den Orkneys nach Shetland, Island, Spitzbergen und dann die norwegische Küste hinunter würde uns auch SEHR interessieren, very much SEHR sogar. Weißt du, wer solche Fahrt anbietet? Masterchen hat nämlich in 2 Jahren einen runden Geburtstag und hatten wir an eine genau solche Fahrt gedacht. Wir glauben, es gibt auch Orkneys, Island, Süd-Grönland, Neufundland und über Jan Mayen zurück. Das fänden wir auch toll. Wir lieben Seefahrten und bislang sind wir auch noch nicht seekrank geworden, obwohl wir schon echt raue See erlebten.
      Also, falls du Infos über solche Reisen hast, lässt du es uns bitte wissen. Danke!

      ich habe euch mal die entsprechende Reise (2015) rausgesucht 😉 http://tuicruises.com/kreuzfahrt-buchen/reiserouten-details/?route=335&startDateString=2014-09-24&endDateString=2016-04-30&sortOrder=DATE_ASC&regions=nordland
      Nicht erschrecken über die Preise, aber TUI hat den Vorteil das wirklich alles inklusive ist (auch Getränke).
      Es gibt zwar auch Bezahlrestaurants, aber der Zuschlag ist nicht sehr groß. Im Gegensatz zu anderen Reedereien, habt ihr bei TUI im Prinzip keine weiteren Kosten an Bord. Bei AIDA isst man z.B. in Schichten und da sind dann auch nur die Tischgetränke frei. Das hast du bei TUI halt nicht, die haben sogar noch einen 24 Stunden Grill wo du auch nachts um 3 Uhr noch eine Currywurst/Pommes bekommst 😀
      Ich war mit TUI und dem Service und Personal seehr zufrieden.
      Ich wünsche euch viel Spaß beim planen und surfen 😀

    • Lieber Klausbernd,
      da ich alleine reise, zahle ich noch 80 % Zuschlag, da es ja keine Einzelkabinen gibt 😦 Du kannst dir sicherlich vorstellen das ich da dann etwas länger für sparen muß bzw. mal im Lotto gewinnen sollte.
      Und eine Innenkabine möchte ich auch nicht haben.
      Kalkuliert mal die Priese auch mit den anderen Reedereien (aber an die Zusatzkosten bei Getränken etc. denken) und überlegt mal, ob eine Suite mit 4 Personen nicht evtl. günstiger ist als 2 Doppelkabinen.
      Viel Spaß beim rechnen und sparen 😀

      dank für deinen lieben Kommentar.
      UK hat meines Erachtens großes Glück gehabt – und Schottland auch – dass beim Referendum die NO-Stimmen deutlich überwogen. Cameron hat Schottland deutlich mehr Rechte versprochen, die wohl jetzt auch umgesetzt werden. Schottland ohne England hätte wohl größte Schwierigkeiten gehabt. Die Staatshaushaltsfinanzierung allein aus dem Ölgeld hätte wohl nicht gereicht, zumal das Nordsee-Öl jetzt langsamer fließt, da die Quellen versiegen. Außerdem war die Frage der Währung völlig ungeklärt wie einiges andere. So ist es schon für alle Seiten gut, dass Schottland im Vereinigten Königreich bleibt.
      Ganz liebe Grüße aus dem spätsommerlichen Cley, in dem es seit Monaten nicht mehr regnete, aber heute Nacht haben wir eine Chance. Daumen halten!

    • Guten Abend, lieber Ernst,
      naja, Großbritannien ist doch nur noch in den Köpfen seiner Bürger eine Weltmacht. In der älteren Generation hört man oft den Standardspruch “isn’t it a pity that we lost all our colonies” :-). Verglichen mit Deutschland geht’s England weitaus schlechter: viel höhere Arbeitslosigkeit, mehr Armut und alle produzierende Industrie wurde verkauft. Dennoch erstaunt es mich immer wieder, wie reich manche Engländer sind. Die Schere hat sich hier weiter geöffnet als in anderen Ländern. Ich bin hier umgeben von Leuten, die nie arbeiten mussten. Das Gute ist jedoch, dass man oft sozial eingestellt ist und seinen Reichtum nicht zeigt. Für England gilt: je reicher, desto ärmer gibt man sich – understatement …

    • tja, die Zeit der grossen Industrien ist auch in UK wie überall zu Ende gegangen, zurück blieben Geld-Clans, die dank den steuerlichen Schlupflöchern, die ihnen die demokratischen Regierungen in allen Ländern gewähren, ihren Reichtum noch vergrössern können. Die Schere wächst nicht nur in Grossbritannien, sondern auch bei uns.
      Aber unsere Regierung macht in vielen Bereichen eine gute Arbeit, wenn ich die Wirtschaft, die Beschäftigung und zum Teil das Sozialsystem anschaue. Leider gilt auch bei uns nur eines : GELD
      Vielen Dank für deine interessanten Ausführungen über die Abstimmung und den Leuten, die nie arbeiten mussten.
      Auch wir haben in Mitteleuropa milde und warme Herbsttage, unterbrochen von Regen. Ich nutze diese Zeit, um für Beiträge, die mir im Kopf rumschwirren, an diversen Orten in der näheren Umgebung noch zu fotografieren.

    I’m delighted you enjoyed the wonderful weather, it’s been a glorious summer up here, and we have just returned from Oban through Inverarry ourselves! I haven’t quite got back into the blogging groove after a month of freedom 🙂

      We had this problem getting back into the blogging as well. It was quite a freedom without it. We were hiking in Scotland without any electronic gadgets – wow, what a relieve!

    That was a close race, I think we can all live with the outcome. A long time ago I worked 3 years in “The Ferry” (South Queensferry) and since then I visit Scotland almost every year. It’s beautiful country with friendly people and I look forward to read and see more from your holiday. 🙂

      I moved to North Norfolk with it’s pagan Viking tradition 35 years ago. My parents were agnostics and I have never had any connection to a church. When I studied medieval literature I had to read the Bible for the first time. Well, a very different path, indeed. But so what ..?

    I absolutely love all your photos and Scotland is most definitely on my list of places to visit.
    My late father’s family come from Scotland and I intend to trace my family heritage soon.
