Given the recent tragic events in France, I thought it suitable to re-blog this post from the Fabulous Four of Cley-next-the Sea. If you would like to, feel free to do the same with their post, or mine.
Thanks for this. I also placed a banner on Colltales about it, which I’ve modified a bit, including other idioms, etc. We should all stand firm on this issue, not out of hate for any particular religion but because freedom of expression is the stepping stone to any society, period. There can be no compromise, except when expression means hate, which was never ever the case with Charlie. Very sorry about this.
The U.S. media is often spineless when it comes to putting a correct label on such events. I have to commend the French media for being forthright in the language it uses to assess and discuss the Charlie Hebdo massacre.
christians, jews, believers of all religions, atheists and agnostics, everybody who’s against violence and hate, it’s time to come closer and mourn. thank you dina.
Great quote but bear in mind that Voltaire was an anti-semite. We stand with Charlie for people’s right to speak and write freely but that doesn’t mean we have to agree with what Charlie said.
Karneval stoppt „Charlie Hebdo“-Motivwagen
Very appropriate Dina.
Love and best wishes, Pete and Ollie. x
