Thank You to 10 000 Followers

We woke up to a delightful scream from Siri 🙂 and Selma 🙂 this morning. Overnight we reached 10.000 followers. Especially, our dear Master wanted to reach 10.000. Now he is happy. Well, it’s a cliché to say we don’t care about the number of followers, but we do. It tells us if we are serving our visitors. We thank you VERY much for following us. That is motivating us to go on blogging happily in our way.

Freudenschreie von Siri 🙂 und Selma 🙂 ließen uns heute Morgen unsanft erwachen. Über Nacht hatten wir 10.000 Followers bekommen – eine Zahl, von der wir im Geheimen immer geträumt hatten. Besonders unser Masterchen erfreute das sehr, da das sein geheimes Ziel war. Klar, es ist ein Klischee zu behaupten, dass einem die Anzahl der Followers egal sei. Uns jedoch nicht, denn sie sagt uns, wie wir unseren Besuchern dienen. Bei allen unseren Besucher bedanken wir uns hiermit herzlich. Das motiviert uns bestens, fröhlich auf unsere Weise weiterzumachen.

Are you aware that success makes you ambitious? At least, we notice that. But we don’t mind as long as it doesn’t take over our life. Blogging is a side issue for us, and we are doing it as long as we are happy with it. And we promise we try to do as well as possible.

Kennt ihr das auch, dass Erfolg euren Ehrgeiz anspornt? Zumindest bei uns ist das der Fall. Uns ist das jedoch egal solange er nicht überhand nimmt. Blogging ist und bleibt eine nette Nebenbeschäftigung für uns, die wir solange pflegen, wie es uns Spaß macht. Und wir versprechen euch, dass wir uns bemühen, es so gut wie möglich zu machen.

      Wir sind rundum froh. In der Tat waren wir lange vor 10.000. Es schien uns bisweilen, dass es uns nicht vergönnt wäre, die 10.000 zu erreichen. Am Schluss wurde es ernst, Masterchen packte der Ehrgeiz und so brachte er uns soweit, aber wir haben alle gaaaaanz kräftig mitgeholfen.

  9. Well done Fab Four, we love seeing positive high numbers! Having said that, will you be able to travel as planned with the high numbers in NL?

    Nein, überhaupt nicht. Ich hatte mit dem World-of-Warcraft-Blog ein für meine Verhältntnisse recht erfolgreiches Blog, und es war mir am Ende durch die ganzen Kommentare zu viel an Arbeit. Wenn da 20-30 Leute kommentieren und jeder zu Recht eine Anwort erwartet, dann wird es mir zu viel. Zumal es von der Machart schon sehr auwendig war, aus einer stundenlangen Questreihe Screenshots auszuwählen und noch zu bearbeiten, wenn dort Chatnachrichten drin waren.

    • Wir verstehen Vieles weitaus besser als zuvor, nachdem wir darüber bloggten. Außerdem sehen wir es als Chance, uns in ein Thema einzuarbeiten. Naja, im Grunde macht zumindest Masterchen das Gleiche, das er bereits vor seiner Pensionierung machte. Durch unsere Blogartikel wurden wir auch für Interviews und Podcasts angefragt, was uns einfach Spaß macht.
      Wir finden Bloggen sinnvoll und es ist ein geliebtes Hobby von uns.

    • Ich reflektiere Bücher und Filme sicherlich anderes, wenn ich über sie schreibe.

      Aber Bekanntheit…ist habe so viele kommen und gehen sehen, Twitcher mit 1-2 Millionen Followern, die aufhörten und die ein halbes Jahr niemand mehr kannte. Ich selbst hatte eines der größten deutschsprachigen WoW-Blogs und auch daran wird sich auch niemand mehr erinnern. Andere Blogs, die sehr beliebt waren, manchmal ein wenig experimentierten und ganz schnell weg vom Fenster waren.

      Ruhm ist im Internet extrem flüchtig, das habe ich schon zu oft gesehen und erlebt. Ich sehe das inzwischen extrem entspannt.

    • Na, das ist ja fein. Aber das liest sich mit einem Hauch der Verbitterung. Gerade der letzte Satz, lässt eine nette Rationalisierung vermuten. But never mind! Ruhm oder nicht-Ruhm ist doch ein lustiges Spiel, isn’t it?

    • Letztendlich bin ich den Weg selbstbestimmt gegegangen, aus mehreren Gründen: Gesetzliche Bestimmungen, die auf WP nicht umsetzbar sind; der Gedanke, dass es meine Nachbarn nichts angeht, was für Filme und Bücher ich konsumiere und über die denke; und die Einsicht, dass meine Meinung alles andere als relvant ist, kam obendrauf.

      Bessere als andere Blogger, die unverdrossen weiter machen und nicht verstehen, dass ihre 15 Minuten des Ruhms abgelaufen sind, ist es alle mal, ich kenne da einige (nicht euch).

    • Wir geben dir teilweise Recht. In der Tat ist es so, dass Ruhm in der Bloggosphäre äußerst kurzfristig ist. Außerdem hat man auch keinen zumindest materiellen Gewinn davon. Es versuchen Blogger zwar immer wieder mit Bloggen Geld zu verdienen, aber bei dem meisten fließen Gelder nur äußerst kärglich wenn überhaupt.
      Ehrlich gesagt blogge ich und wir, weil wir als Vielleser auch schreiben müssen, sonst werden wir verrückt 😉 Wir finden auch den Austausch mit anderen reizvoll. Eigentlich mache ich zumindest nichts anderes als was ich auch vor meinen Ruhestand tat: Lesen, darüber reden und schreiben. Mir gefällt das. Außerdem finde ich es interessant, was wie ankommt und wie Dinas Bilder und Text sinnvoll verbunden werden können. Bloggen ist so besehen, die geistige Herausforderung für uns, die wir benötigen, um geistig fit zu bleiben.

    Liegt wohl etwas an meinem schrägen Hobby, nämlich alte Objektive oder Selbstbauobjektive an modere Systemkameras zu adaptieren.

    da gratuliere ich aber gaaaaaaaaanz herzlich! 10.000 Abonnenten! Das ist ja unfassbar und macht mich neidisch. Nein, neidisch eigentlich nicht wirklich, sondern echt froh fuer Euch!
    Wieviele Abonnenten ich habe, das weiss ich gar nicht. Muesste ich mal nachschauen. Eine ganze Reihe von meinen sind wohl, so vermute ich jedenfalls, “professionelle” Abonnenten und keine, die meinem Blog folgen, weil sie echt an meinen Postings interessiert sind. Das gilt wohl vielfach auch fuer die “Likes” – das vielleicht noch mehr. “Likes” interessieren mich uebrigens mehr als die Zahl der Abonnenten, denn daran kann ich ja sehen, wie die einzelnen Artikel bei meiner Leserschaft ankommen – und das interessiert mich wirklich.
    Was meine Leserschaft angeht: da kommt auch das Prinzip “do ut des”, das Klausbernd ja vor Kurzem erwaehnt hat, ins Spiel. Laengst nicht alle haben meine Blogs abonniert, sondern werden auf meine Artikel erst dann aufmerksam, wenn ich auf ihren Blogs like oder kommentiere. Aber so ist das wohl. Wie dem auch sei: ich freue mich ueber jeden Kommentar.
    So, jetzt bleibt mir nur, Euch weiterhin viel Erfolg mit Eurem Blog zu wuenschen. Im Sinne der jetzt laufenden Olympiade: ich hoffe, Ihr eilt von Rekord zu Rekord! 😉 Citius, altius, fortius! Na ja, “schneller” braucht es ja gar nicht zu sein, und warum eigentlich “tapferer”? Aber “hoeher” eben schon – in den Besucherzahlen.

    • Guten Tag, lieber Pit,
      viele unserer Follower kommentieren oder zumindest liken auch, aber natürlich gibt es auch ‘professionelle’ Follower und Liker wie die berüchtigte Sania Sparkle, über die sich inzwischen fast jeder amüsiert. Immerhin etwas. Tapferer (fortius) – naja, dass man tapfer weitermacht, obwohl es nichts einbringt außer Arbeit. Da ist man doch glatt ‘Held der Arbeit’.
      Auf jeden Fall ganz herzlichen Dank für deine lieben Wünsche.
      Die Follower werden bei unserer WP-Folie unter den Texten angegeben, so dass man sie wie die Anzahl der Kommentare und Likes immer im Blick hat. Wir haben bei Likes auch so ein Ziel und zwar es sollten immer über 300 sein, die unsere Posts gut finden, ansonsten müssen wir etwas ändern. Huch, sind wir ehrgeizig. Aber ehrlich gesagt, würde ich nur dann für weniger schreiben, wenn es mir absolut am Herzen liegt.
      Naja, wir gehen auch regelmäßig auf Besuchsreise zu anderen Blogs, was ich auch ganz interessant finde.
      Heute war ich allerdings bis jetzt damit beschäftigt, gespendete Bücher zu sortieren und preislich einzuordnen. Es ist erstaunlich, wie viele Bücher wir aus dem 19. und selbst teilweise dem 18. Jh. bekommen und wie viele Erstauflagen und signierte Exemplare. Es sind jetzt noch 3 Wochen bis zu unserer BookFair und unsere geliebten Buchfeen sind bereits jetzt ganz aufgeregt. Wie das wohl wird, wenn der Verkauf beginnt?
      Hier haben wir wunderschönes Wetter, so tgl. um 23 Grad C, ab und zu ‘mal einen kleinen Schauer und ziemlich sonnig bei leichter Briese.

You’ve reminded me that close to 50 years ago I was in a supermarket in New York one day and and heard a mother tell her daughter (I don’t know why): “Ten times ten is a hundred, and a hundred times a hundred is a thousand.” I probably should have intervened to point out that actually 100 times 100 is 10,000, but I didn’t.
