      I recently watched a film on BBC.
      Cambridge was presented as unique, one of the most beautiful cities in the world and a walk in Cambridge was quoted as one of the prime walks of the world.
      Now you know what you’re in for! 🙂

    • Liebe Hanne, ich stelle es mir sehr schwierig vor, nach den Diensten und nicht nach den Tageszeiten zu schlafen. Sicher hast du dich daran gewöhnt aber nach deiner Zeit in Norfolk ist es sicher schwer, wieder den Rhythmus zu finden.
      Vielleicht hast du ja bald auch ein wenig Tagesdienst, lg von Susanne

    ich sitze hier im Anblick deiner wunderbaren Bilder, atemlos. Grandiose Aufnahmen, die all die Grandezza Cambridge’s reflektieren, zumindest die der Collegewelt.
    Wenn man all das so sieht, dann wird mir Sean O’ Caseys Bemerkung über Town and Gown in Cambridge erst richtig verständlich: ” DIe Stadt drückt und schlängelt sich um die Collegegebäude herum und macht den EIndruck eines heruntergekommenen Burschen, der von der Gnade eines reichen Verwandten eine Stelle erhofft.”
    Kann es sein, dass du dich nach deiner Rückkehr aus Cambridge auch wie Lytton Strachey fühltest? Er sagte: “After Cambridge, blank, blank, blank.” Ich habe mich nach meinem Abschied aus Cambridge fast so gefühlt und trug ein wenig Trauer mit mir rum.

    • Ja, lieber Achim, so habe ich mich wie gefühlt. Leer, wie amputiert. Jedoch hatte ich mir fest vorgenommen, nach 3 Jahren Studienzeit in Norwegen nach Cambridge zurückzukehren. Das ich stattdessen in Deutschland enden sollte, hatte ich ja nun wirklich nicht mit gerechnet! 🙂

  44. Great idea to combine photos of places of learning with quotes of a genius, I love Einstein’s quotes. Nostalgic locations for me as my grandmother lived in Cambridge for 7 years, in the 70s & 80s. I used to visit and stay for a week every year, so know it well.

      viele Bilder, ich weiß, ich weiß, ich bin mit sooooo viele schöne Photos nach Hause gekommen, da ist mir die Auswahl schwer gefallen. Und ich liiiiebe Cambridge! Hätte die Buchfeen und Klausbernd mich nicht ein wenig gebremst, wäre es noch mehr gewesen. 🙂 Cambridge ist toll, ich kenne niemand, der in Cambridge war und nicht von dieser Stadt geschwärmt hat.
