      thank you sooooooo much! We had a great celebration in a cosy hotel in the Peak District with fine food, great drinks and so many gifts.
      Our week in the Peak District was easy. We climbed a mountain, strolled through idyllic towns and stayed in a comfortable hotel. The weather was great, much better than expected.

  28. Here’s a synchronicity to celebrate. As soon as I saw 75 in this post, I thought three-quarters (of a century). Shortly afterwards, I watched the 1932 Ernst Lubitsch movie “Trouble in Paradise,” in one scene of which we see a French newspaper with a headline containing “Trois Quartiers.”

    • Dear Steve,
      yes, three quarters or .75 are special if we see it under the aspect of numerology. We have 3+4=7 and 75 can only be divided by 5, combining we have 7 and 5 again. 7 is a magic/spiritual prime number (f.e. Menora) and the prime number 5 is symbolising harmony, so this combination seems to be quite ideal. Well, that’s one way to see it.

  53. Happy 75th and congratulations!! Each portrait is very nice. I am not usually very keen on the kinds of effects that move photos toward paintings but I like this one very much! It’s effective and does what it should do – removes extraneous detail to give the essence of the image. The expression, from the twinkling eyes to the folded hands, says a lot. I’d say it was an excellent collaboration and I wish you both many more!

      What a coincidence, I just wrote that this last picture of me is like a Hockney painting. I like it very much (as I like Hockney’s paintings) but it is quite controversial. Some people don’t like this style.

    • Habe herzlichen Dank, liebe Karin. Wir waren gestern zu “Gardens of Light” in Blickling, eines der großen Landhäuser, das übrigens eine der wichtigsten Bibliotheken Englands beherrbergt. Wow, war das toll. Wir flanierten über drei Stunden durch den Park und waren an jeder neuen Ecke verblüfft. Sie hatten neun Monaten an dieser Weihnachtsshow gearbeitet und es war überhaupt nicht kitschig, was ja leicht bei diesen Lichterspektakeln der Fall ist.
      Auch hier gibt es Weihnachtsmärkte, aber nicht so romantische wie auf dem Kontinent. Dafür laden fast alle großen Häuser zum Bewundern ihrer aufwändigen Weihnachtsdekoration ein. Bei uns in Cley next the Sea gibt es in den Fenstern der Häuser an der Küstenstraße einfallsreiche Dekorationen, die oft auch durch kleine Elektromotoren animiert sind. Wir nehmen allerdings an dieser Weihnachtsfenster-Aktion nicht, wir wohnen auch nicht an der Küstenstraße.
      Wir können uns gut vorstellen, dass es in Colmar und Sraßburg Weihnachtsmärkte vom Romantischten gibt. Hier sind Norwich (unsere Landeshauptstadt) und Bath für ihre Weihnachtsmärkte berühmt.

      Was mir hier besonders gut gefällt ist, dass es auf den Märkten wirklich nur Sachen gibt, die zu Weihnachten gehören! Nicht, wie ich in Deutschland schon gesehen habe, Elektroartikel usw.

      We can very highly recommend the “Gardens of Light” at Blickling. We have been there for the opening yesterday night. It’s really GREAT without being kitschy. We went through the park for nearly three hours and we were thrilled at every corner. Hanne took lots and lots of photos.
      If you want to go there you could combine it with visiting us. It would be great to meet again.
